Youngest Chamber Member In Nation (?) Joins Here
Reportedly the youngest member of a chamber of commerce in the United States, Tammy Maxwell receives plaque and congratulations from Sid Huwaldt and Homer Rohse while new chamber members and other chamber officials look on during ceremony. Covered by Portland television and Salem media Tuesday morning, Tammy was brought into the local group by Rohse and Huwaldt who had the highest membership-recruiting percentage. Miss Maxwell operates "Tammy's Smoke Shop" on Third Street when opened in July. She works at the store after school hours and on weekends. Previously, the youngest known chamber member was a 17-year-old youth in the east, Chamber Manager Pete Ball said.
