Members of Dick Smith's class at the junior high practiced for the three-day hike they took into Lake Pamelia on Mt. Jefferson. The trip was taken Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1. The students backpacked into the lake on a 2 1/2 mile trail and stayed overnight. The next day, the class hiked down the trail and drove to Sisters, Redmond and Crooked River Gorge, spending the night at Pelton Dam Park, and returned home Wednesday afternoon after a stop at Timberline Lodge.
