The polebean harvest is still in full swing with a continuing need for more pickers according to Ken James, manager of the Department of employment McMinnville office. Shown over mound of beans this week were (I-r) Jeff, and Linda Olson and bulldog ”Gomer" at Olson Farm. Many of the fields which were late getting started will be reaching their full production by the early part of next week, James said. Additional pickers will be needed to harvest these fields. Some of the fields which were started earlier in the season will be finished by the early part of next week.
Pickers who have been working in these fields will be needed to assist in harvesting the later
producing fields. Growers are arranging additional transportation for workers to help them get these late beans off the vines. Workers who have completed a polebean field and are interested in picking in another field are urged to contact the Department of Employment at 408 S. Baker street or to call 472-5118 to find another field in which to pick.
