Coronation, Parade Open Willamina’s Campaign For Title Of Cleanest Town

Willamina Clean-Up Campaign got underway Saturday when Queen Gretchen Thomas was crowned by Rev. Charles McCarthy. The clean-up drive, headed by city councilwoman Barbara Elliott, is Willamina's part in a nation-wide contest to beautify America's cities. Chosen to serve on Queen Gretchen’s court during the sustained effort, scheduled to end June 21, are (left to right) Ann Kluth, Wendy Jo Anderson, Lyn Simonsen, Schonnie Furer and Sandra Hamilton. Looking on at right is Willamina Mayor Victor Johnson.
