New Helicopter, to fly blood Tuesday from McMinnville to Beaverton for an open heart operation Wednesday morning in Portland, is examined by (left to right) Quay Jorgensen and Del M. Smith, partners in Evergreen Helicopters, Inc. of McMinnville, and Bruce Chalmers, member of the McMinnville Airport commission. Evergreen recently purchased Dean Johnson, Inc., spray firm located in McMinnville for several years. Smith and Jorgensen, Founders of Evergreen, agreed to take the 29 pints of blood to Beaverton for the operation, using about one half hour to get the blood to its destination Tuesday afternoon.
