"Recently erected on the west side of the coast highway just a short distance south of Otis juntion is this large signboard which directs motorists over the "shorter, safer, scenic" route from the coast to Portland. Erected through efforts and financial backing of the McMinnville chamber of commerce, the sign points out the correct turn to reach highway 18, and then maps out its route through Yamhill county cities, including McMinnville."
