1941-5-8, To Quench McMinnville's Thirst,
M.H. McGuire, superintendent of the McMinnville water and light department, directs unloading Friday afternoon of the first carload of more than 15,000 feet of Transite pipe to go into the city's new water line from Haskins creek dam. Transported to the dam site, 13 miles west of McMinnville, the first shipment of line will be set by the department's own crews. The new water line, which will double capacity of flow to the city, is expected to be completed next year and will cost an estimated $107,000 to build. It will include over 53,000 feet of Transite and steel pipe.
