Sheriff’s Investigation Reveals Strange Culprits
Clyde Todd, McMinnville area orchardist, inspects the stump of one of the 128 pear trees which have disappeared from his farm in the past two weeks. Todd and Sheriff's Deputies staked out the orchard in an attempt to apprehend the culprits responsible, only to discover the dirty work being done by a band of beavers using the young trees to construct a beaver dam on a nearby creek.
