City Hall in McMinnville (left) was originally a house which was purchased in 1965. It was across the street from building which at that time housed all city departments. McMinnville’s city hall is considered one of the most unique city halls in the entire country. It was bought for $42,500, with remodeling costs of approximately $10,000. Building consists of approximately 6000 square feet and houses all administrative offices, engineering and building departments, Parks and Recreation Director’s office, Fire Marshal’s office and council chambers. In October, 1966, the building was featured in an article in Western Cities magazine. Adjacent to the City Water and Light Department on Baker street, additional purchases have given the city ownership of the entire b;lock for expansion as need arises. Fire and police departments have expanded facilities into the old city hall. Remodeling of the building, inside and out, has been completed at a cost of about $45,000. The city has purchased the old Hudson House property adjacent to the fire department and money has been budgeted for a $63,000 building to be constructed on this site-for expansion of maintenance for city equipment and street department.
