John Hampton, right, of the Willamina Lumber Company is congratulated by Alan Jones, manager of the McMinnville Water and Light Commission Wednesday morning after he submitted the successful bid ($88 per 1000 board feet) on the 1,840,00 board feet of Douglas Fir in the 26.2 acres of sale area in McMinnville’s watershed. Ten firms qualified for the oral auction held at McMinnville’s fire department hall. The bid will be accepted pending approval of the city attorney, city manager and forester and on the company's ability to furnish a suitable bond as specified.
