10-5-1968 Agreements Reached on $500,000 Steel Mill
Representatives of McMinnville Industrial Promotions and Cascade Steel Rolling Mills, Inc. met this week to sign agreements to pave way for construction of Cascade’s $500,000 plant, due to be completed in December, 1968. Plant will initially employ about 100, with 225 persons eventually possibly employed. Ground breaking ceremonies will be held at the 41 acre site northeast of McMinnville next Friday. At the contract signing were (l-r) A.T. “Pete” Beall, McMinnville Chamber of Commerce President; Gale Vinton (standing), MIP vice president; Charles Morford, Cascade general manager; R.H. Windishar, MIP president; C.E. Colvin (standing). MIP board member; Harvey Osborne, Cascade, secretary; Eugene Marsh, MIP board member; and R.R. Mains, MIP accountant. Plant will require 21,000 kilowatts of electricity and will consist of two buildings 60 x 180 feet and 60 x 560 feet.
