9-21-1968 Future City Water Needs Supplied By Nearly-Completed Dam
Construction of McGuire Dam west of McMinnville above the city’s watershed, scheduled for completion this year, has been hampered by August and recent rains. However, work is on schedule and when completed the dam by diverting the Nestucca River will provide ample water for McMinnville needs for water in the immediate future. The dam is being financed through an Economic Development Administration grant. At left, clearing of the reservoir which will extend back of the dam about two miles, is being done by C.F. “Sport” Laughlin, hired by Willamette Industries which traded the land with McMinnville.
