9-21-1968 Future City Water Needs Supplied By Nearly-Completed Dam
Construction of McGuire Dam west of McMinnville above the city’s watershed, scheduled for completion this year, has been hampered by August and recent rains. However, work is on schedule and when completed the dam by diverting the Nestucca River will provide ample water for McMinnville needs for water in the immediate future. The dam is being financed through an Economic Development Administration grant.

Above, a view toward the reservoir from the dam showing Nestucca River water in the foreground. Tower is water-intake structure used to take water from lake at several levels through “Morning Glory” to outlet basin in front of dam. Water will be take to watershed through 30 inch transmission line.
