Operating the big trencher which has been in operation at the Goffena farm near Amity is Henry Murray (left) of Amity. Working with him laying tile is Jim McClean (right) of McMinnville. The machine is owned by Gordon Pratt of McMinnville and was trenching 4 ½ feet in depth at 10 feet per minute. Pratt said his company last year installed nearly 400,000 feet of the 600,000 feet of tile laid in the county. McClean lays the foot-long, 4 inch tile at the rate of 10 per minute. The machine is one of two owned by Pratt.
