Founder-director of the annual college speech tournament at Linfield College, Dr. R.D. Mahaffey, presented trophies and awards at the close of the 38th annual event Saturday night. Linfield’s speech team captured second place in the sweepstakes awards, behind the University of Oregon, which won top honors for the sixth consecutive year.
