Presentation of an American flag was made to McMinnville Girl Scout Troop 403 recently by the Women’s Relief Corps No. 5 Auxiliary of the Grand Army of the Republic in a ceremony at Michelbook Country Club. some of the 14 members present for the ceremony were (front, l-r) Susan Nelson, Susan Ayala, Carolyn Ayala and Nancy Nelson. In back are (l-r) Mrs. Robert Smith, troop official; Alberta Ebner, patriotic instructor; Hattie Swanson, president; Estelle Juker, department patriotic instructor; Nettie Waldo, press correspondent; and Christi Opperud, assistant to Scout Troop leader Mrs. S.H. Shumway. The women’s organization is the oldest women’s patriotic organization in America.
