February 2, 1957 Alternatebr/ A trophy in the form of a miniature iron lung is presented to Bill Rutherford, third from left, president of the senior class at McMinnville High School. The senior class won the trophy for donations to the March of Dimes of $722.86, more than $350 above the class with the next highest donation. The contribution was an average of $6.27 for each class member and was raised through a series of projects including a car wash, a German band, a spaghetti feed, theater ticket sale, and a faculty-senior class basketball game. Total donation for the school was $1571.31. Other contributions were $367.16 from the sophomore class, $285.17 from the junior class and $195.62 from the freshman class. Presenting the trophy during an assembly Friday was Gordon McKay, student body president.
