COLLEGE RESEARCH—-Dr. Walter Dyke, right, physics professor at Linfield College, explains to Cecil Sanford, advanced student from McMinnville, some of the intricacies of the physics department's rectifier unit. The rectifier is set up to convert 110 volts alternating current to as high as 16,000 volts direct current. lt was recently purchased from war surplus and will be used as a power supply for experiments in the field of electronics. Last fall, the college was given a $5000 grant for research work in the field of electronics, and, at the present time, Dr. Dyke and his students are busy assembling equipment in a new laboratory in preparation for extensive experimentation.
