That stripe across the new McMinnville Junior High School gymnasium is the beginning of the maple playing floor. Under the maple is the concrete slab subfloor, a coating of tar, the cork cushion and another layer of tar. Laying of the 93,000 square foot floor is expected to be completed in about a week. It will be sanded and given a first finishing coat. Then the game lines will be painted and two more coats of finish added.
