A timely presentation of American flags to classrooms of Cook and Columbus Grade schools in McMinnville is made by members of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary. Presented during assemblies at each school Friday morning, the flags commemorate American Education Week and Veterans Day.

At left, Gregory Vanderpool represents his class in receiving a flag from the Rev. S.J. Osborne, commander of the McMinnville Post, American Legion. Standing by with other flags are Mrs. Edward Swift, vice president of the Legion Auxiliary, at left, and Mrs. Alberta Morrow, Auxiliary president.

As gifts from the Legion and Auxiliary, the flags will serve as a constant reminder of the significance of American education and the service who have made it possible.
