New home of the Necchi-Elna sewing center is this modern building at 1036 North Baker street. Owned by Phil and Eleanor LaVoie, the business formerly was located at 507 Third street. Both new and used sewing machines are handled at the sewing center with servicing for all makes and “unlimited” sewing instructions. Vacuum cleaner sales and servicing have been added and a new service now available for covering buttons and belt buckles. Other buttons as well as all kinds of sewing notions and Vogue Patterns are available. For the grand opening Friday, a company representative will give sewing demonstrations. Prizes for the opening include a sewing machine, a $100 and ten $50 gift certificates on any automatic sewing machines. Off-street parking will be provided to the south of the new building. LaVoie, a veteran of the Second World War and the Korean war, has worked with sewing machines for the past ten years. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks.
