DEPUTY STATE FIRE MARSHAL Jack A. Hayes of Salem, left, was in town Tuesday to discuss with McMinnville Fire Chief Ivan Pearson the details of the firemen’s informal conclave scheduled for August 1. More than 200 visiting firemen from surrounding communities are expected. Among principal speakers will be State Fire Marshal Seth Thompson, Salem. Mayor Rudy Windishar will present honorary memberships to eight retired firemen who served with the McMinnville fire department for 20 years or more. A 50-foot drill tower is being built to aid the firemen in their practices.
