1939-2-9 Sheridan Bridge Construction-1
1939-2-9, 70 Tons....Just Rollin' Along,
"For years this old county bridge has carried traffic across the South Yamhill in Sheridan's heart. Jacked up, placed on rollers, the 70-ton steel and wood span is ready to be moved to temporary piers. Sheridan residents gather to watch the bridge roll along the ticklish 38-foot downstream journey. Going places, two men hand winches at either end, easily roll the 70-ton burden into place. Job's done! Now construction can begin on a new $47,000 span on the site of the old bridge."
