Police officers check drivers and their automobiles during a surprise safety inspection at Yamhill-Carlton High School. Examination of cars was held as courtesy to students and faculty members Tuesday. Defective equipment was noted and drivers were requested to make necessary repairs and return for another inspection within 10 days. If defects had been found during a check on the highway, citations would have been issued. Taking part in the inspection, from the left, are Robert Hummel, deputy sheriff; Jim Nuckols, Yamhill police; Edward Bakke, state police, and Sgt. Al Cianni, state police.
