That stripe across the new McMinnville Junior High School gymnasium is the beginning of the maple playing floor. Work of laying the maple was started Thursday morning by Abe Ryerson, kneeling, subcontractor on the job, and Bev Saunders. Under the maple is the concrete slab subfloor, a coating of tar, the cork cushion and another layer of tar. Laying of the 93,000 square foot floor is expected to be completed in about a week. It will be sanded and given a first finishing coat. Then the game lines will be painted and two more coats of finish added.
