1938-10-6, Iron Man Aworkin' on the Levee,
"Polishing the current-torn banks of the Willamette on fertile Grand Island is this mechanical giant, drag-lining material from the river bottom to make a smooth, angle surface for revetment rock to be laid soon to keep flood waters from washing away valuable farm land. This operation is a part of a new flood control contract awarded Edelfsen and Weygandt by U. S. army engineers. Rock for the construction is being taken from a quarry east of amity. One of several similar jobs is now near completion by Parker-Schram across the river from Grand Island on the Marion county side. "
