1940-4 Farmers Coop Creamery; ships first butter-3

1940-4-11, Workmen are shown above loading the first complete carload of Yamhill county butter ever produced and shipped out at a single time by the Yamhill Farmers Cooperative Creamery, which was loaded and sent to San Francisco Friday. Jack Wright, plant superintendent, is shown fourth from left, in back, while the 68-pound blocks of hardened butter are stacked. The first carload amounted to 33,000 pounds. Herman Bernards, cooperative president, announced that the creamery would ship a carload a week to California for an indefinite period. Peak production for the plant is expected in mid- May.
