1940s House Raised Old Landmark 1.jpeg

April 24, 1947
ANOTHER OF McMINNVILLE’S LANDMARKS vanished this week with the leveling of the old Redmond home On the southwest corner of 4th and Ford Streets. The venerable old house bowed to progress and was torn down to make way for a parking lot which is being constructed by O’Dells Tire Shop. The house, one of the oldest buildings in McMinnville, was built in 1882 for Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Redmond, according to Mrs. W. C. Miller, niece of Mrs. Redmond, who was married in the house. The Redmonds moved into their home shortly after their marriage. Mr. Redmond was engaged in the drygoods business in McMinnville for a number of years running stores located at the present site of Montgomery Wards, Harper Jamison's Stationery and in the Union block.
