MISSING PILOT-Gold Lake, and adjacent terrain, focal point in the initial phases of the aerial search for Robert Lee Rubottom, missing McMinnville flier, is pictured in the photo above. The search shifted over the weekend from this region which is located near the Willamette Pass to a locale southwest of Lorraine, Oregon, 26 miles from Eugene. Some airmen still are of the opinion that Rubottom never was able to navigate safely over the area pictured above but was forced down in that vicinity. Inset photo is of Rubottom who flew a heavy bomber over Europe during the war.
