March 30, 1962br/Nearing completion is the future home of the Furniture Mart, large McMinnville home furnishings business, on N. Highway 99W. According to Abe Goldstein, owner, equipment and stock will be moved in to the new store in the near future. He plans a grand opening about May 1. The 12,000 square foot building, being built by Jack Leonard for C.L. Moulding, will have an estimated cost of $75,000. Goldstein came to McMinnville in February of 1954 with Hy Evans and Jim Beard and they purchased Cohn Bros. furniture store at Third and Cowls. In 1957, Goldstein bought out Evans and Beard and had operated in the downtown location. The old Furniture Mart site is undergoing extensive remodeling and will house the new Peery-Rogers Thrifty Drug store.
