Top prizes were given for ton mileage scores, computed from actual mileage in relation to weight of car and occupants, but a prize was given for best actual mileage. A mileage prize was taken by Jim Chalmers in this Volkswagen, with 42.95 miles per gallon. Tied with Chalmers for top mileage was Jerry Wagner with an identical record in a Studebaker. Wagner also placed third with 72.25 ton miles.
