1939-1-26, Flames Reduce Packing Plant to Ashes,
As fire chewed down the walls of the H. S. Gile and company packing plant in Newberg Tuesday night firemen fought in vain to save between 200 and 300 tons of prunes, blackcaps and walnuts which were stored in the plant. Total damage of the blaze was estimated near $28,000.
