A two week cruise from Astoria is slated in the very near future by Ron Johnstone and his wife, Jean, of 602 E 10th street, McMinnville aboard their new auxiliary sloop. Built by Johnstone over a three and one-half year period, the sailing craft sports a 40 foot mast and is 36 feet long. Built of fiberglass, the Johnstone's new boat is nine feet, four inches at the beam, will sleep four persons and has a 30 horsepower inboard engine. The Johnstones were planning to take their new sailing boat into Portland Wednesday, where it will be placed in the water as they make final preparations for their ocean cruise.
