Dayton Students Pay Tribute To Pioneers
Dayton School’s Eighth Grade class works near a monument to the founder of Dayton during a field trip and class project at Brookside cemetery. The class Tuesday cut grass, trimmed and cleaned the site where many Oregon pioneers are buried. Joel Palmer, founder of Dayton, deeded the property to the Dayton school district in 1874. Working at the Palmer monument are from left, Robert Maddox, Delores Mann, Tony Wallace, Karen Krake, Edna Dixon and Harold Morgan.
