McMinnville firemen stand by to prevent this fire from spreading after a pile of rubbish gathered for a Linfield College homecoming bonfire was ignited prematurely. College freshmen prepared the fire for evening activities, but were “overpowered” by sophomore students who prematurely fired the rubbish. Smoke from the blaze was visible from all parts of the city and resulted in a general alarm at the fire department.
