McMinnville Drum Majorette Awarded First in State Twirling Event at Salem
McMinnville high school’s Alberta Schmauder, with a score of 94 percent, twirled her way to first place in the Salem Elks’ seventh annual statewide drum majorette contest last week. The 17 year old high school senior won second in the contest in 1944 and came through this year for first before a large audience in the Salem armory.
