Full-time Operation of Yamhill county’s radio station KMCM, was realized last Friday at 4:45 p.m. when Ralph Wortman, right center, threw the switch putting in operation the station's second antenna which allows night-time broadcasting. Previously the station had been operating only during daylight hours. Wortman’s throwing of the switch marked another “first” for the McMinnville banker who brought the first motorcycle, first car, and first airplane to the county. Watching Wortman throw the switch, left to right are Jack Bladine, one of the owners of KMCM, Lou Gillette, KMCM manager, Wortman, and George Hathaway, chief engineer of KMCM.
