April 6, 1962br/Diamonds Arrive - A package of diamonds, valued at ldquo;several thousand dollarsrdquo; by Alex Timmreck (center), arrived recently at the McMinnville Post Office, direct from diamond cutters in Johannesburg, South Africa. These are the first diamonds to be sent directly from South Africa to Timmreck and McNicol Jewelers in McMinnville. Police escort with Timmreck is City Officer Dick Lofton, while Postal Clerk Charles R. Jackson delivers the diamond package. A unique system of grading the diamonds, which are virgin because of never having been set in rings, assures their perfection. Buyers will receive a virgin diamond certificate and a letter from the cutters assuring this, Timmreck reported.
