OUT OF THE PAGES OF BUCK ROGERS was a demonstration of a tiny radio transmitter being given Gov. Mark Hatfield and his state police driver, Bill Newell, following the Linfield Homecoming banquet Saturday evening at Memorial school. Dr. W. W. Salisbury, center, technical director for the microwave power laboratory of Varo Mfg. Co., Garland, Tex., who came here for LRI dedication of Linke hall, speaks into the transmitter, actual size of which was about equal to an apple seed. Hatfield watches in amazement. The tiny instrument, dwarfed by the microphone and battery case to hold it, has been developed by Varo and may offer future uses in space travel. Dr. Salisbury said.
