Farmers Go on Tour to Study Best Methods of Feeding Cattle
Feeder cattle were studied Thursday by a group of farmers who visited the Frank Brown and J. A. McFarlane farms where extensive feeding operations have been carried on successfully for several years. Prior to the tour, talks were given by Harry Lindgren and Ben Rhodenwahl, both of Oregon State college. Mr. McFarlane and Mr. Brown also spoke, telling of their experience. One of the items stressed by them was the value of corn ensilage as an economical feed and one which keeps the animals in good health. The pictures shown here were taken on the Brown farm. Above is the group which made the tour. Another picture shows the large barn on the farm. A prize Hampshire ram, imported from England, is shown with Mr. Brown. The ram was one of the winners in the Royal Livestock show in England before being brought here.
