An ice cream party for Lafayette School students Friday afternoon was perhaps a few days behind a more favorable climate for the event, although it's doubtful the children would agree. Temperature hit 104 degrees Tuesday. At left, Alice Anderson joyfully receives bowl of ice cream.
About 10 Lafayette PTA members aided in serving 18 gallons of ice cream, 100 bananas and a myriad of topping stuff paid for through money left in the fund at the end of the year. Jackie McCracken, PTA president, said since the school will be closed, the money was earmarked for the children's enjoyment. All the children agreed it was "the mostest of all”, Mrs. McCracken commented.
