Reps Tour mobile home factories
A tour of local mobile home firms, particularly advances in modular housing, was made this week by (l-r) Tony Meeker (R-Amity), a state representative, Roger Martin, chairman of the joint committee on Urban Affairs and Mass Transit, Tom Hartung (R-Washington Co.) and an administrative assistant (not shown) who are talking with Jack Paul, general manager of Boise Cascade at start of tour. Meeker said the chairman concluded at the end of the tour that modular housing is feasible and that the efficiency of the mobile home plants could be utilized in producing low income housing. He indicated the present methods of constructing homes and multiple dwelling units was archaic and definitely needed some changes. The committee is now looking at uniform building codes and perhaps an industrial modular housing building code for state wide usage.
