1941-3-27, Highway 18 Improvement Gets Under Way, "First steps in new construction on Highway 18 between McMinnville and Sheridan got under way last weekend as workmen for the Berke Brothers construction company poured the above-pictured section of culver over Muddy creek. Eugene E. Marsh, chairman of the McMinnville chamber of commerce committee on roads, is shown here inspecting the project.
All told, the road projects covers 2.12 miles of new road, to cost $107,000, starting just east of Bellevue at the William Duerst farm and ending one-third of a mile west of Deer creek. The Berke crew will also construct a bridge across Deer creek, according to Superintendent Harry Hamilton."
