Improved communications between Southern Pacific and Yamhill County communities was the target of a luncheon session Thursday in special cars on a McMinnville railroad siding. Alden W. Kilburn, superintendent of the Oregon Division, and Bernal S. Quayle, assistant traffic manager, hosted some 25 city, county and civic officials from the area at a buffet served in the S.P. cars. The rail officials were accompanied by legal, traffic, operating and public relations aides, who detailed efforts by the railroad to improve service and relations with the various communities and the county. Tremendous investments by Southern Pacific in larger and specialized rolling stock, yard facilities and maintenance equipment was outlined for Yamhill county leaders in a slide presentation.
