Firemen Confine Palm Cafe Blaze Monday Night to Single Building
The McMinnville fire department curbed a blaze that started in the kitchen of the Palm cafe at 10 pm. Monday to the two story brick building with only minor smoke damage to adjoining establishments. Pictured here, upper left, Mrs. Ira Moore, owner of the Lulu Moore dress shop, when she arrived from an Eastern Star meeting to prepare to evacuate stock when the fire threatened other buildings on Third street. Upper right, a few of the more than 500 to 1,000 persons who lined both sides of the street while the blaze was in progress. Below, left, spectators watch the smoke pouring from the main entrance while firemen attempt to reach the blaze in the rear of the building. Below, right, two firemen enter the kitchen where the fire started.
